L’anno di HardestCharts si chiude con il simbolo Hardcore per eccellenza. Masters of hardcore: decisamente più conosciuta per il famosissimo party, il più importante al mondo, che per la label musicale. Eppure il teschio con le corna nacque nel 1996 a Zandaam come un etichetta musicale fondata da Bass-D & King Matthew. I primi 2 dischi sono addirittura di influenza USA: il primo con la firma di Rob Gee e il secondo ambientato a New York “Is New York in da house?”. I 2 fondatori vengono presto affiancati da artisti che ne danno la loro impronta musicale: Buzz Fuzz, The Masochist e Jda. Dopo pochi anni nasce l’omonimo party e si afferma nel periodo dove invece i vecchi Thunderdome e Nightmare in Rotterdam stanno tirando i remi in barca. In poco più di una decade Masters of Hardcore diventa il party numero uno al mondo del genere e ogni anno raduna decine di migliaia di fans oltre che a vantare tour europei in tutte le nazioni. La svolta arriva quando un certo Marc Out, in arte Dj Outblast, entra a far parte della crew: si impone sia musicalmente, sfornando dischi storici come “Masterz Symphony”o “Never say die” e prende in mano il testimone lasciato da Bass-D & King Matthew e porta il concetto Masters of Hardcore ai massimi livelli. Tale label è colei che ha scoperto e ha dato casa all’artista forse più famoso di tutti i tempi che per la prima volta nella storia ha fatto vedere la musica hardcore nella top100 di Dj Mag: Angerfist. Nel tempo ha comunque dato spazio a innumerevoli artisti, e ha fatto del “creare il personaggio” il suo punto di forza! Korsakoff, Angerfist, DayMar, sono diventati artisti con un identità impressa nelle menti grazie soprattutto alla loro label di appartenenza. Forse la label che più di tutte lavora sull’espansione del germe Hardcore oltre il velo dell’underground, creando appunto personaggi anche fuori dalla consolle ed essendo stata la prima a dedicarsi completamente al digitale, evolvendosi a una velocità incredibile.
