Hm Interview: Hellsystem
HELLSYSTEMINTERVIEW.jpg

Edited by Saluzz & Alex B Hard.

Ciao Giorgio
grazie per averci concesso un intervista.

"How the world has ended", uscita sul tuo album Devil Face, e "Dreams" uscita su quello di Angerfist.

16.Anteprime sui tuoi prossimi lavori?

ENGLISH VERSION by Alex B Hard

1.When was the first time you listen to hardcore ? Do you remember which was the first hardcore track that made you understand that this would have been your path ?
Back in 1994 I was listening to a techno radio program, and suddenly a particular track was played, faster, harder, and with a distorted kick. Unfortunately I’ve never known the title of that track, but from that point I knew it would have been my style, and I started to look for other tracks.

2. You were born in Palermo a town where this music wasn’t popular, but it has given anyway artists like you and Destroyer. Did you have to move to follow your artistic flair?
In 90’s, hardcore in Sicily was unknown. Only people who had the chance to travel or came from the northen Italy knew it. Friends and other people thought I was crazy because I loved this music. It was really hard to find CD’s, or Mc’s, and in 1998 I move to Rome to find a new job. Only there I discovered I wasn’t the only one from Sicily, but also Destroyer.
I personally think, that Sicily gave me more determination to start my career where anybody supported me or encouraged me. I had proved myself I could make it.

3.Tell us about your first production and you debut on Hardcore Blasters with “Beat motherfucker”.
It all began for fun with the Playstation music game creating different type of tracks, from Trance and Drum’n’Bass to Hardcore and Terror. After that I thought I had to try more seriously and I started with my first PC with Fruity Loops 3, and I set my demos to a young and promising label.

4.Why did you choose the name Hellsystem ?
Well, the name came up in period when I was producing music more like Terror and I needed a wicked name to match it. Even though I think it does not really match to a mainstream hardcore, I decided to keep it because it sounds good.

5.After more than 10 years you released many EP’s, and two albums with many played and well known hits. Your sound has always been so true to the meaning of Hardcore, that it hasn’t become “soft”. What can Hellsystem say about his sound after 10 years ?
After 13 years I’ve never stopped loving this music. Success came up when I started to not care about other people taste, but just making what I loved to, making tracks that I’d personally like to dance, mixing other genres that I love. If I’m here is also thanks to Dj D, that from the beginning it has always supported me and helped me to give the best from myself.

6.Three words for Hellsystem to describe Hardcore.
Rebellion, enjoyment, and surge.

7.What do you think has been the highest point in your career so far ? What do you think is your best track ?
I think from 2009 to 2012 and my best track is “Another world”. Maybe because I was much inspired, and it tells a story.

8.You collaborated with important names in the scene, from Dj D, Predator to Angerfist. “How the world has ended”, released on your album Devil Face, and “Dreams” released of Angerfist’s album. How did these collaborations start? Will there be other collaborations like these in the future ? Is there any artist you would like to make a track with? Do you still have a dream you want to realize ?
It all began when Angerfist loved my track “Vor” and asked me to remix one of his tracks. After that we kept in touch, and after some years I sent him a demo that became “Dreams”.
Of course there will be big collaborations in the future.
Honestly, I think that working with masters like Predator, Angerfist, Tieum, and Dj D is already a dream came true.

9.What about the Dirty Bastards project? How did it start ? What will be the future ?
It’s an idea from Rayden to team up with Juanma and me and performing a live act with mask, producing non melodic hardcore. Just rough and captivating hardcore. Maybe one day we will release an album.

10.Did Hardcore Blasters change after changing management from Dj D to Rayden ?
I personally miss Dj D very much. He was more judgmental and severe when listened to my demos. Rayden is a really good friend and we help each other, and the other colleagues with feedbacks.

11. Is there a crowd you particularly love ? What kind of parties do you like ?
I love in particular the East Europe crowd, especially Russia, Ukraine and Czech Republic. The dance like there’s no tomorrow. I love how the party because there’s always a good atmosphere and never fights.
Hellsystem likes small club where people came there to see him, and after playing he likes to drink and dance with the fans and partying all night long.

12.What do you use for producing ?
In the past I used some external synth, but now I only use my PC.

13.Who was your inspiration in the beginning of your career ?
Definitely, Artcore sound. After that, all the Enzyme Records artist especially Nosferatu, and Ophidian.

14.Let’s talk about the Italian hardcore scene. What Hellsystem think could be improved and what are the best things?
Musically, the whole world envies our sound, and the Italian crowd always stands out with his glee at parties. What to improve? Actually, I don’t know at the moment…

15. What do you think the future of this music will be ? Recently, many labels are supporting the new generation of hardcore producers. Who stands out for you ?
A name that stood out for me is N3ar, that unfortunately for personal reasons decided to quit hardcore. I think the future will bring to a more mix of genres and so more sub-genres.

16. Are you working on any release at the moment ? Any previews coming up ?
I’m working on many collaboration with many artists, at the moment. There are tracks that goes from 155 bpm to 210 bpm. You will hear news really soon.

17. A greeting to our community.
Bye to the whole community of HardestMusic, and hope to see you soon at some party !
